Trained as a physicist and author of school textbooks, Raïssa Malu is an international education consultant, Senior Referent for UNESCO's International Bureau of Education and promoter of Science and Technology Week in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

She is a member of the International Advisory Committee of the African Strategy for Fundamental and Applied Physics (ASFAP) initiative. She is regional editor for Central Africa of the "African Physics Newsletter" published by the American Physical Society (2023-2025). Raïssa Malu is also an Honorary Member of the Presidential Panel responsible for supporting the R. D. Congo's term at the head of the African Union, 2021-2022, in charge of issues relating to education, youth, science, technology and innovation.

Focusing mainly on French-speaking Africa and Haiti, her research interests include: teaching and learning of science and mathematics, assessment of learning, diversity in science, public policy and science diplomacy.
