Stan Hendrickx (Maaseik, 1954) is an archaeologist specialised in the early history of Egypt. He earned his Ph.D. from the KULeuven in 1989 and was lecturer in history of art at Hasselt University / PXL-MAD until his retirement in 2019.

Since 1977, he has participated in excavations at different sites in Egypt (Elkab, Adaïma, Deir el-Bersha, Aswan and the Western Desert). In addition to his interest in ceramology, his research focuses on the time-frame stretching from the Predynastic period to the end of the Old Kingdom. During recent years, he was especially involved with Predynastic iconography. He is the author or co-author of well over 150 scientific publications. Furthermore, he is at the origin of the online Early Egypt Bibliography (EEB) https://www.ifao.egnet.net/bases/beo/, to which he continues to contribute.

He is a member of the scientific committee of the “Egypt at its Origins” conferences and of the editorial boards of several scientific journals.
