Tanguy Marcotty graduated as a veterinarian in Liège in 1992. He then started a career in Africa. He worked for 8 years on tsetse and tick borne diseases of cattle in Eastern Zambia. He obtained his PhD degree in Liège in 2003 and worked at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, until 2013, mostly on the epidemiology and the control of animal diseases and zoonoses in Africa. He participated and coordinated some EU projects on One Health in Africa. In 2009 he became lecturer in parasitology for veterinary students at the universities of Namur and Louvain, where he continues to work on several research projects in Africa. Since 2016 he teaches MSc students in the framework of a course on health risk management at the university of Liège. During his career, he coached many MSc and PhD students, mostly from Africa, and authored or co-authored about a hundred peer-reviewed scientific publications.
